Susan M. Obijiski was born in Michigan, the child of a journeyman who worked in automobile plants, and a mother who worked in the local hospital. She attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and worked Off-Broadway and in regional theater.
She has lived in New York State, and Connecticut and her career includes positions in the healthcare profession, in large and small corporations, as an independent consultant and teacher and a business writer and author, and she has worked with other authors to help them edit their manuscripts, and bring their work to publication.
Susan now lives in beautiful Sedona, Arizona. She is the author of the trilogy, Legacy of Dreams (‘Dreams of the Many’, ‘Dreams of the Few,’ and ‘Dreams of the Exile’), and an eBook novella entitled ‘Crackle & Wheeze.’ She is a contributing author for “Sedona Awakenings’, and has published a collection of short stories, ‘Short and Odd: Confounding Stories of Life: A Collection of Short Stories,’ and numerous novels, including ‘The Price of Vengeance,’ ‘The Way Between – An Unexpected Life,’ and the non-fiction publication, ‘Aspirations of the Soul – A Primer – Planning Your Life Before Birth.’
Ms. Obijiski says of her work, ‘I hope that my books resonate with readers and give them pause to consider the challenges, fears, and demons that sometimes control our lives, and the importance of living with passion, and courage, and pursuing the dreams we hold dear.’
Early Inspiration
Even as a child I wrote stories, and I always kept a journal. My work might not have been insightful, and I probably lacked the vocabulary to dabble in imagery or evoke emotion, but I always had something to say. Words always excited and moved me, and I always wanted to learn more.
As an avid and diverse reader, she has been deeply influenced by powerful literary works such as To Kill a Mockingbird, Black Like Me, Animal Farm, and Johnny Got His Gun. Her appreciation for literature later expanded to authors like Stephen King, whose ability to place ordinary people in extraordinary situations continues to inspire her approach to character and storytelling. For her, the best writing is immersive—built through strong imagery, compelling characters, and stories that stay with the reader long after the final page.

The Writing Process
What she enjoys most about writing is the moment when a scene or character comes fully alive on the page, translating imagination into something tangible. While she acknowledges the challenges of patience and creative timing, she sees writing as a practice in humility, perseverance, and dedication to the craft.
Holding a finished book is, for her, a deeply emotional experience—one that represents both release and transformation. After long periods of revision and refinement, she lets go of the story and its characters, allowing readers to discover and interpret them in their own way.
